My journey...When my Mom was pregnant with me, she had an appendicitis. In the process, I was jostled. Thus, I have a bone deformity of my left elbow. My arm does not straighten. As a baby I went through several surgeries and treatments. Growing up, I didn't want my "difference" to hold me back. With determination, I skipped my senior year of high school to start college at sixteen and follow my own path. However, at eighteen, I became entangled in a relationship where I was miserable and deeply shattered. I got out at twenty, and my recovery took many years of asking questions like: Who am I? What is my purpose? What choices do I have? What is my responsibility? What is fate and what do I will into being? Simply stated, I spent those years studying what is it to be human. I started with philosophy. Then, I studied art as an expression of the self and theater as a performance of the self. I delved into theories about gender, narrative, and culture. I wrote poems. Hundreds of poems. I emerged from my own deep questioning. Again, I persevered. I created with intention and patience and creativity a life of authenticity, balance, trust, flexibility, and resourcefulness. Now, I am married to a wonderful man who deeply enjoys being a stay-at-home dad for our two children. I support my family, always striving to balance work and quality time with my loved ones. We live a debt-free life. I volunteer my time, talent, and resources to organizations that mean something to me. I struggle to be true to myself all the time. And it is this struggle, this passionate attachment to the journey, embracing the stumbling as well as the striving that gives me a grounded, humble, and yet challenging voice in my coaching. I bring a deep conviction about our power to transform our lives. I found my own creativity and resilience. I know it is possible. I know it can be more than just sweet talk and dreams. I have made many of my dreams real. And along the way, my struggles have become my strengths. The deep questioning I went through gave me the opportunity to love others on a deep and rich level with honest compassion. I have reached for my own authentic edge. And now I try to balance on it.
